Welcome to the Younger Members Group of the Montgomery Branch!

The Younger Member Group (YMG) is a group within the Montgomery Branch ASCE that is designed to cater to the professional growth and development of younger engineers, those 35 years-of-age or younger. The group also recognizes and welcomes student members from area colleges such as Auburn University.

Our quarterly meetings / socials provide a chance for young professionals in the area to socialize, network, and discuss various civil engineering topics. Montgomery YMG encourages members to bring friends and co-workers that share the same mindset. Together, we can build a great group with a bright future for the engineering profession. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our organization!

Younger Members Group Hits it out of the Park with
The Capital City Classic

On Tuesday March 28, 2017, the Montgomery Branch Younger Members group held its second quarterly assembly at the Capital City Classic at Riverwalk Stadium featuring the Auburn and Alabama college baseball teams. In attendance were several local younger engineers, a few professional engineers, and a group from the Auburn Student Chapter. Also in attendance was a guest all the way from Slovenia! In total, all seats were filled in this packed house game. The game even broke the record for most people in attendance at Riverwalk Stadium!

Through the Montgomery Branch, with a very helpful grant from Region 5, the Younger Members group was able to reserve seats along the third base line right behind the Auburn Band. Although a few fans in attendance were upset at the 4-3 victory by the Tigers, everyone had a great time. The fireworks at the end also help to let everyone leave with a smile.

Be on the lookout for information around this time next year, as the Younger Members Group plans to make this a new annual event!!

Past Events....

In June, the Younger Member Group met at The Exchange for a roundtable discussion on the importance of professional qualifications. Special guests were members of Montgomery Branch Leadership who championed the discussion. The topics focused mainly on the FE/PE tests. Questions and answers included how to study, what area of civil engineering is right for each individual, study materials, and the feeling of relief the leaders felt once they found they passed.

In May, the Younger Member Group met at The Exchange for an Introduction Social. Members that attended spoke with other industry young members and discussed our careers. The group also talked about various social activities in the area for members to engage in throughout the community.
